Tennis

Sabine Lisicki

Tennis mirrors life. You’re on your own, with no one to blame when things go wrong. If you lose concentration and take your eyes off the ball, it’s over—just like in life.

Tennis has always been more than just a sport to me. It’s something that challenges me, frustrates me, excites me, and teaches me all at the same time. The moment I step onto the court and hear the sound of the ball hitting the strings of my racket, everything else fades away. It’s just me, my opponent, and the game.

The hardest part of tennis isn’t physical—it’s mental. When you’re alone on the court, there’s no one to blame. Every mistake is yours, and so is every comeback. You have to stay calm after a double fault, fight through frustration, and keep believing in yourself even when you’re behind.
